Who dares wins! (first impressions)

They say you go into travelling as someone and come out on the other side as someone else... I got talking to a bloke this morning, outside smoking a cigarette. He was from Washington, D.C. and looked like a vet traveller, bearded, hair in braides, super tanned, with loose flowing clothes and sandals. I didnt need to ask whether or not he had been to Thailand before, it was written all over him (I did anyway, on the tail end of a 2nd 3 month trip). Thailand had got him, like it seems to do a lot of people.

When it comes to the roads, more specifically trying to get across them, it is literally a who dares wins scenario. The green man over here means nothing! It means some of the cars might stop LOL. Most just drive straight through, especially the ubiquitous scooters. Thank God Im used to crossing busy roads in London, otherwise Id never get across.

Thailand is even cheaper than I thought, eg breakfast (2 croissants, 2 slices of toast, ornage juice, and coffee) came to a grand total of 80 bahts, 1 pound 50 pence. A taxi might typically cost 2 quid, an hours massage 4 quid and a hostel room 8 quid for the night. I can see why westeners stay on!!
